Launching Ethnoarch.com
November 12, 2004
Welcome to Ethnoarchitecture.com. We have launched the English version of this
project on November 9th, 2004 (40th anniversary of the exhibition "Architecture
Without Architects").
Our aim is to build up an interactive database of vernacular types. This is a complex task, and it is going to take time (especially because this is a self-funded, part-time project). In the meantime, and given that only a database would not make sense or add much to the discussion on the topic, we will be posting some articles and news. These relate to vernacular and traditional architectures and the social, cultural and environmental issues that affect the built environment today. For those curious about the progress of the site, we will be adding a link soon detailing our updates. For those who used to visit Ethnoarchitecture.com in search of the Spanish version of this bi-lingual project, Etnoarq will be hosted on its own server space from now on.
About this article
A note about the formal launching of Ethnoarchitecture.com, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the exhibition "Architecture Without Architects" as a symbolic gesture.
